1. Introduction
Wedu (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates a WhatsApp-based marketplace that connects clients with local service providers in Zimbabwe. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect what we need to match you with the right person and keep the platform safe.
From everyone using Wedu:
- WhatsApp number — provided by Meta when you message us.
- WhatsApp profile name — visible to us when you start a conversation.
- Messages you send to the bot — service descriptions, addresses, photos.
From clients posting jobs:
- Service description and category.
- Location pin or typed address.
- Optional photo of the issue.
- Ratings and feedback you submit.
From service providers registering:
- Full name, business name (optional), trade and category.
- Photo of your national ID and a selfie for verification.
- Home address and service location.
- Subscription and payment status.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Matching: connecting clients with relevant providers based on category and location.
- Verification: confirming providers are legitimate before they receive job leads.
- Communication: sending you alerts, quotes, replies and reminders on WhatsApp.
- Trust signals: aggregating completion counts and ratings so clients can choose well.
- Safety: detecting abuse, fraud or spam (including blacklisting numbers that violate our Terms).
- Service improvement: understanding usage patterns to make the bot smarter and faster.
5. ID Photos and Verification
Provider ID photos are stored on a secure image host and accessed only by Wedu's admin team during verification. They are never shown to clients and never shared with any third party except as required by law.
6. Data Retention
- Conversation sessions: kept in cache for up to 7 days for continuity.
- Job records: retained for analytics and dispute review; cancelled jobs are removed within hours.
- Provider profiles: retained while your account is active. We delete them on request after account closure.
- Audit logs: retained indefinitely for security and accountability.
7. Your Rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- See what information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your account and personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Stop messaging you for marketing or reminders.

8. Security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, run on hardened cloud infrastructure, and limit administrative access on a need-to-know basis. No system is perfectly secure — if you suspect your account has been compromised, message us immediately so we can block it.
9. Children
Wedu is not intended for anyone under 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a child has registered with us, contact us so we can remove the account.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on WhatsApp. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
